64GB RAM on Lenovo Gaming 17IAB7

I bought the Lenovo Gaming 17IAB7 desktop PC in the spring of 2023. I don’t have much time for tinkering with proper PC builds anymore, so decided to give a prebuilt a shot, this time.

One of the first upgrades this thing needed was more RAM as it only came with 16GB. From some quick research, it does not support XMP settings, so many types of RAM will run at a slower fallback DDR4 speed of 2133 Mhz.

Now that it’s 2025, I wanted 64GB for running local LLMs and virtual machines. And it should run at full speed (3200 Mhz).

Lenovo claims the maximum supported RAM is 32GB.

Making Orbi Great Again

The Netgear Orbi is badass.

I’ve never experienced such great range and throughput from a WiFi router. Dead spots are gone in my home.

We all have a healthy radioactive glow.

But..

Within days, we started getting major stability problems. Our Google Homes and Chromecasts were dropping connection and requiring manual reboots nearly every hour.

What good is a fast network that won’t stay connected?

The Orbi was expensive and I expected better than this. It should be a rock-solid, set-and-forget system for that price.

The firmware updates weren’t helping, but I wasn’t ready to give up on it yet.
